My Immortal Beloved - Beethoven

Title
My Immortal Beloved - Beethoven
Artist
Georgiana Romanovna
Medium
Painting - Mixed - Dedication To Joseph Stieler
Description
This work is a dedication to Joseph Karl Stieler who painted a magnificent rendition of this work and one I have not attempted to reproduce exactly. I wanted a more modern Beethoven, a more vibrant, alive and tempestuous character that stares back at you with an intensity.
......................................................
My work is impressionism, whereas the original Stieler's is realism - and a very beautiful work indeed. My original is an oil painting but I struggled with adding texture to it as I had not done my usual acrylic underpainting and as I couldn't get a decent scan, I retouched the work digitally to make it worthy of a print. I have wanted to paint my own rendition of this for literally years and now have done it I question whether I should have just done the face - I am unsure.
..................................
Ludwig Van Beethoven's life story is sad, and yet at the very same time the pure genius of his music lives on today and still retains the power it once did when it shocked audiences with the audacity of his 'modern' works.
......................................
My own life is deeply stepped in music and therefore my avid interest in composers. I often feel very odd around others as classical music lovers seem to be diminishing, but I tend to think that this is where we need to open our children's hearts to the magic and mastery of the Masters of Music.
